Sugar is present in almost any food we eat nowadays. People nowadays mostly eat processed food abundant in sugar and they aren’t even aware of what they’re consuming every day. What do you think: how much sugar is too much to intake?
The sugar that is present in these foods is refined and it can cause different types of health problems: diseases, illnesses etc.
Sugar is called in other names like:
- Corn syrup/sweetener
- Evaporated cane juice
- High fructose corn syrup
- Malt syrup
- Hydrolyzed starch
- Rice Syrup
Here are symptoms that you need to be careful about when it comes to excluding sugar from the diet.
1. Cravings for Carbs/Sugar
Sugar can cause an addiction. The effects it causes are similar to the ones cocaine causes. Sugar can stimulate the production of the pleasure hormone called dopamine. We just think about how to give ourselves simple carbohydrates or sweets in order to get a “fix”. So, our body becomes tolerant to sugar. Even when you aren’t hungry, you need more sugar.
2. Tiredness and Lack of Energy
Some of the Orexins are a type of neuropeptide (an amino acid chain that forms protein in the brain). When our blood glucose levels are increased, they cause a state of sleep.
When you eat something sweet and then you feel high sugar, then after a while there is a “crash”, you start feeling tired.
3. Weight Gain
Consuming too much sugar will cause obesity. Many other factors can also have an effect on it like the metabolic rate and the activity level. Still, our body burns sugar that it needs for energy. The fat that isn’t used is stored as fat so that it could be used later.
When you overeat, you suppress the hormone called leptin. It is the hormone we need to know so that we could stop eating.
When our blood glucose levels are increased, the production of insulin becomes normal. Insulin has the ability to decrease our levels of blood glucose.
Proteins are the ones that keep us awake and active. Our metabolism becomes able to burn calories.
4. Frequent Flu and Colds
Our immune system becomes depressed when we intake great quantities of sugar. Our white blood cells become decreased. They can’t destroy pathogens and viruses.
When we eat too much sugar regularly, we become susceptible to any contagion because we can’t fight it.
5. Dull Taste Buds
To many people, the sweet taste is pleasant.
According to British researchers, people who are overweight are with a dulled sensitivity to sweet food.
If you decrease the sweet flavors you intake every day, your food will definitely taste very sweet!
6. Foggy Brain
Too much sugar can cause a decrease in our brain function in a period of 2 months. Increased amounts of neurotransmitters and proteins in the brain are necessary so that we could have good memory and learning. We can say that sugar makes us stupid!
7. Skin Problems
Our skin needs to have plenty of collagen so that it can be elastic. The sugar molecules are the ones which tie to the collagen. The collagen cells move around with their help.
When we have too much sugar in our bodies, our tissues become more stiff. Our skin loses elasticity, so it starts showing wrinkles etc.
Sugar can cause cellular inflammation. Any type of chronic inflammation can cause other health problems.
Dermatitis and acne are only some of the skin problems. We need to avoid rice, bread, pasta and cereal. The pores become clogged and pimples appear.
Candida is one of the sugars which thrives on sugar.
Increased production of insulin and internal inflammation can cause the appearance of abnormal cells which reproduce rapidly. We know that cancer cells are dependent on sugar. Here’s another reason that tells us to eliminate sugar from our diet!
